After reading this assignment I have come to have an even greater realization that no one on this earth knows the day the Lord will come. All we can do is be faithful in all that we have learned and strive to learn all we can. Then live everyday as if it were the day the Savior will return and ensure that our lamps are timed and full of oil.

Mark 13; Luke 21:5–38; Joseph Smith—Matthew. Preparing for the Savior’s Second Coming

  1. Review Mark 13:5, 9, 23, 33, 35, 37 and identify the words take heed and watch in each verse. List at least three things from this chapter that believers could watch for in order to be prepared to meet the Lord.
The can make sure no man will deceive them.
The Savior has told them all things.
We must watch and pray, we know not when the time is.

  1. Explain in writing any other additional truths that are taught in the following references about how to prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
    • Doctrine and Covenants 87:8 We must be ready at all times for the coming of the Lord, we know not when it comes, but it comes fast.
    • Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:32  There will be abominations and desolations, fulfilling the prophecy.
    • Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:37  IF we study and love the scriptures, we will be saved in the last days.
    • Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:46–50 We cannot delay the day of our preparations. The time is at hand and the Savior could come at anytime.
    • Doctrine and Covenants 33:17 We must be like the virgins who had their lamps trimmed and oiled, ready for when He comes.
    • Doctrine and Covenants 45:56–57 If we are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for our guide, and have not been deceived we shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day.
